A skim, a board, or a replaster
A skim is a thin finishing coat over a surface that is still sound. Dry lining is the right job when you are adding a wall or covering a surface with board. A replaster is for plaster that is blown or falling off. We name which one you are being quoted.
If a ceiling was damaged by water, the leak needs to be stopped before plaster goes back on. We will ask that on the first call.
Ready to decorate
Fresh plaster needs time to dry before paint. Board that is only taped and jointed is a different finish from a skim over the board. The quotation says which one you are getting, and how long to leave it.
